16.04.2008 — On April 1, 2008, under the aegis of the administration on culture of the Poltava city council, in the Poltava art gallery the 8th International traditional yearly exhibition of caricatures “Carluka-2008” was opened. On the threshold of a jubilee, 200th anniversary of N. Gogol’s birthday, the motto of the exposition of this year was chosen “We are the descendants of Gogol”. This year, the contest is not planned since now it will be conducted once in two years. Therefore, to the attention of the poltavites and guests of the city was offered the exhibition’s exposition. It consisted of the personal exhibition of a famous Ukrainian caricature artist, master of a friendly jest, participant of a TV program “Savik Shuster’s Freedom”, repeated prize winner of the contest “Carluka” Vasili Voznyuk. The guests of “Carluka” were able to get acquainted with the works of the Odessa club of caricaturists. Incidentally, the exhibition of caricatures did not take place in Odessa, therefore our clubs exchanged works. One of the expositions of our contest “Carluka” went to Odessa. Friendly jests and caricatures were represented by the Poltava caricaturists – Yevgeni Samoylov and Mikhail Shlafer. Besides, a photo exhibition “Merry camera lens” was organized, which authors were the Kharkov photo artist Vladimir Ogloblin, the Poltava authors Sergei and Il’ya Nazarkins. Traditionally, surprises, prizes and festive drawings expected the guests. Merry laughter, good mood, Gogol’s humor – all this was seen at the exhibition “Carluka-2008”.
